Another Storm!!

It finally snowed this past week! But then, yep, you guessed it, MORE ice! A solid layer of ice right on top that beautiful soft snow. Anyway, this gave me a reason experiment with the star filter again. The first shot is the field across the road from my house. The second is the icy snow in my front yard. I did clean #2 up a bit in PSE & increased the blue tones.

Andy & I headed for the top of Tuscarora Mountain for a quick photo shoot this afternoon. The ice is still very much present & still makes beautiful images.

Following Yet Another Ice Storm!

Hi to skywatchers everywhere & a happy safe new year to all. Just when I got to thinking I would never get out & about with my Fuji to get new images the holidays ended & we got another ice storm. Here in the valley this one wasn't so bad. The ice accumulated mostly overnight. Travel in the areas nearer town was good, even walking was safe. During my lunch break I spent some time outside taking shots here & there around the courthouse. Then after work I headed for the mountain top. Ended up at a pull off down the mountain by an old house cause the top was really foggy. I dread hearing predictions of winter ice storms, but I love the crystal palace feel afterward. The trees, bushes, & grasses are beautiful! Just as I left my office the sun broke thru - it was AWESOME. Blue skies, white clouds, & sunshine, all reflecting on the thick coating of ice. A Beautiful World

In "My World" winter has been making it's presence know. We have been pretty lucky here at the foot of the mountains, ice has not affected us as of yet, but driving to work late last week the mountain tops on both sides of McConnellsburg had a definite line where ice ended. It was beautiful! A glistening palace on both sides. It was neat watching how the sparkle changed through out the day, depending where the sun was (or wasn't)at that time. I did not need to travel anywhere that was icy, although on Saturday I made a trip up the mountain to get Nolan cause Mom & Dad both needed to work. What us locals know as Robertsdale Mountain was unbelievable! Snow & ice on the trees backed by a blue sky was just fantastic. I didn't leave early enough to do much photography on the trip up, but on the drive back I took some quick shots - didn't want to spend alot of time cause Nolan was with me. When you are "2" being strapped in a car seat is not fun even if your Granny is bouncing around taking pictures. The weather forecast calls for a wintry mix tomorrow which should give me another chance.
