Iris

This iris or "flag" as I remember them being referred to over the years, is blooming beside our house. Andy & I have worked for our local Office on Aging for many years. During this time we have met & served a bunch of our wonderful older folks. One of these special ladies, who had recently lost her husband, was cleaning up around her home, including separating her iris bulbs. Each driver was given a bulb to take home & plant. (Andy is a driver). This was about 2 years ago, finally ours produced the wonderful yellow blooms you see above. Thank you, Mrs. Pittman, for allowing us to remember you in such a special way.

Flowers

I can't tell you what kind of flowers these are, but they are gorgeous! The smell is out of this world.

New Neighbors!

Each spring we have a couple of robins build nests on the porch. Going in or out the door can become quite a loud & fluttery mission....our grill is on the porch so trying to cook out there has been interesting! Finally today, we could see the new arrivals peeking over the top of the nest. While mom was out looking for dinner I took advantage of the situation, got a stool & my bigger lens to take the family portrait.

I felt like the little on on the left looks by Friday this week!

Second Chance

The indigo bunting came back when I was a bit more ready & stayed awhile. Just a couple of the many images captured.

Indigo Bunting

A bit of research identified yesterday's lovely bird as an indigo bunting. The information provided said it probably is just passing through. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that he liked it so well here he will stay!

Today's image is of Trinity & Mady decorating my sidewalk with chalk. I like the old fashioned feel provided by the black & white & the vignette. Had to tone the white dress down a bit, but I think it turned out OK.

What is it?

Made it back from training with a head full of information. Now I wonder if I can apply it to my job! A long & tiring three days for a homebody like me.

While at my usual birdwatching & photography spot this beautiful blue bird flew in briefly. I kinda got excited, since I didn't have the camera ready, so my images are not the best. Can anyone tell me what kind of bird he is? I had just made the comment to Andy about how it would be nice to choose the color of my feeder guests. Sure would have chose this one.
